Excerpt From Universes - Prison Brings Us Together.

Oh hai. *takes 1 aspirin*

This occurs shortly after Coltrane's Final Task. Obviously quite a major event happened between that scene and this one. Coltrane planned on leaving his home world and living with the shadows... but instead ended up in their prison.

If anyone wants, i could post the middle scene too. It is quite good. lol

I really suck at subtlety. Here are 2 attempts at slowly moving a relationship forward.

Stonian (power - telekinesis) Klax was captured quite some time ago by the shadows during the assault on the Thoughts World. He was one of our traitor Coltrane's teammates. Coltrane felt responsible and because he was working with the shadows, got access to the prison and came to visit Klax.

Over time, Coltrane told Klax everything, about how he was working for the shadows, and he really didn't feel like he could stop. He didn't like doing what he did, but he didn't have a choice anymore.

And Klax was the first person to believe him.

Through events transpiring between this event and the post mentioned above, Coltrane became a prisoner of the shadows and has been thrown into the same cell as his old teammate. If he were in any other cell, surely the other captives would kill him.

Coltrane is quite unaware that Klax loves him...

...

It wasn’t long before Klax’s hands started twitching and fumbling around on the cold, stone floor next to him. As his eyes started to open, he rolled onto his back, and saw Coltrane sitting next to him cross-legged. Through the tiny window in the thick wall behind him he saw the pale purple of a Death World dawn.

“You’re awake early again?" Klax mumbled. "Jeez, you should wake me up."

“You look so peaceful when you’re asleep. And you told me that sleep is an escape from this… hell.”

“Sometimes. Still, I want to keep you company.”

“I’m fine Klax.”

“Yeah yeah… sure you are.”

Klax sat up and rested against the wall.

“So, what are we going to do today?” Klax asked, trying to seem upbeat.

“I don’t know.”

“Well, we could have another breath-holding contest, or a staring one… I bet I’ll beat you at the staring one this time! Last time I had this eyelash in my eye and-”

“How can you be so joyful?”

“I just am, Coltrane, because you’re here. And having someone here with me, just to keep me company, is a much better change than the other days i've spent in here.”

“I don't know how i'd make it in here without you," Coltrane said.

“Yeah i'm awesome,” Klax said, jumping up and walking over the to cell door. “So whatcha thinking about?” he asked, turning his head over his shoulder slightly.

“Do you really want to know?”

“It’s why I asked.”

“Well, I can’t stop thinking about our friends… They'd all know. They'd all hate me. I just wish I could have made them understand.”

“Like I do.”

“Yeah, but they never will. That’s what upsets me the most about all of this. It’s that I’ll always be seen as a hateful traitor to my people, and I’m not.”

“Well, none of that will matter when we’re dead, will it?”

“Is that supposed to cheer me up?”

“Of course it is… I can’t wait to die.”

When Klax turned Coltrane was looking back at him with a tilted head and a raised eyebrow.

“You're so weird, and you speak so bluntly.”

“It’s just the way I am.” Klax smiled at him, and turned around again.

“It’s… nice.”

“Hey, you know what the best thing is?”

“What?”

“It’s that we get to die together.”

...

That was supposed to be both creepy and kinda sweet.

A second excerpt soon after.

Just a quick note:
Cartur is another prisoner/character i introduced, and he's in the cell next to C and K.

...

That night, although Cartur fell asleep early, Coltrane and Klax could not, and they sat against the door to their cell and looked out their small window at the dark, misty night sky outside…

For a long time they sat there in silence, occasionally rearranging the old cloak they were sitting on, or moving around to sit in a different position.

Then Klax quietly broke the silence.

“I never really appreciated everything that I had outside of this place before I was captured…”

“Yeah?”

“Yeah… I miss my bed. I miss warm food and clean water. Hell, i miss things like fresh air and sunlight. I miss our friends too, mostly Xeros.”

“I do too.”

“You must miss Marc, huh?”

“Yeah… It’s hard without him. He was the one person who understood me,” Coltrane said.

“Well, you’ve got me now… so don’t feel too bad.”

“That’s true, but nobody could ever replace him. He was my best friend, my leader, my carer and my brother all rolled into one.”

“Well I’m still gonna do my best. Then hopefully you can feel the same way about me one day," Klax said. He meant that more than he wanted to let on.

“Thanks Klax… You really are a good friend. You’re the only one who’s stuck with me through all of this.”

"Well i am in prison. It's not like i could go anywhere, heh."

They both sat there for a while, listening to the breeze outside. For once, there seemed to be no commotion elsewhere within the prison. It was a quiet night.

Klax started again, “You know that thing that you said before, about fate hurrying up so you could get your opportunity?”

“Huh? Oh, yeah."

“Do you really believe in that? Fate, I mean?”

“I don’t know… I guess I never really thought about it.”

“Well I do. I believe that everything happens for a reason, and everything always ends up the way it’s supposed to, eventually.”

“Fate must hate us then.”

“Not necessarily... It brought us together didn't it? It made us friends.”

“I don’t thank fate for that.”

“I do. In fact, Coltrane, I always wanted to be closer to you before this, but you intimidated me so much. You just had this... scary aura about you. I couldn’t do it. but I hoped that one day we would be closer and look what happened. We ended up as best friends.”

“That’s not fate, it’s just chance or something.”

“Well, you believe what you want to believe – I think we were meant to be here together… I think this was all meant to happen. So it will all work out in the end.”

“How could things work out when they’re already this bad?”

“I’m not sure. I just know that they will.”

...

Other stuff happens in the prison obviously. These two posts were just focusing on Klax and Coltrane though.

Excerpt from Universes - Get Your First Taste of Action.

Oh hai. *sits on your lap* :P

I've got quite an interesting post for you here.

I took it directly from my story. And it's really towards the start. I'm talking like the first few chapters. And you will be able to tell...

Because i haven't edited it one bit!

If i get some helpful feedback, i just may attempt a rewrite with the aim of making something decent... but it really doesn't matter. :)

So, just enjoy and laugh at me!

Stuff you should know:

A long time ago, Healthians invented a necklace that protects your soul, meaning that shadows couldn't just rip your soul from your body while you were wearing the necklace.

I was toying with the idea that shadows had the power to warp through rips in the ground, but later gave up on that. It's here in this scene because i never removed it, but ignore it. lol

I was also planning on making the shadow in this part a main character, but decided against that later on.

Marc and Neo are on a mission to find and rescue Zhetty, their Thoughtian team-mate, who disappeared while on patrol in the Heat World.

Right now they are crouching behind a rock, and Zhetty is on the other side with a foe.

As for the 'dark stream' towards the end... i don't even know what the hell that is! hahaha

That is all. :)

You will see lots of rookie mistakes, some awful dialogue, repetitive sentences and confusing crap. As well as the roots of storylines i was following but later abandoned.

If nothing else, i hope that by reading this you will see that i have improved as i have written more.

Here it is in all its glory...

Prepare to lol and cringe.

...

“…Okay. On my word, we peek over the top, alright?” Marc said.

“Okay,” said Neo.

“Now.”

“Oh crap.”

A shadow was standing over a bright body with silvery hair. The ground around it was littered with other shadows' bodies.

“At least we’ve found Zhetty," Marc said.

“What the hell is it doing? Do you think Zhetty’s still alive?”

“He’s probably dead. The shadow would have no reason to keep him alive. As for what it’s doing, it looks like it’s playing with his charm necklace.”

“What would it be doing that for? Shadow’s can’t even touch our necklaces.”

“I don’t know…”

“Please…” the body groaned.

“What the hell was that?” Marc asked.

“I think he’s still alive," Neo said. "We have to get in there.”

“No, wait! If we scare it, it might kill Zhetty and run. Let’s just see what happens.”

“Take… your sword…” Zhetty said.

“Your powers are weak now Thoughtian,” the Shadow hissed. “You may as well stop trying.”

“Stab… yourself… ungh…”

“You don’t listen well, do you Thoughtian?”

“Arr… Let me… go… and I will… spare… your… life…”

“Hah! Sure! Run along now!”

The Shadow bent down and leaned into Zhetty’s face.

“I’m going to figure out a way to get this necklace off you, and then I’m going to tear your body to shreds. It will be agony. And just before you finally taste sweet death, I’m going to eat your soul. There will be no wonderful afterlife for you.”

“We need to get in there!” Neo said hastily.

“You’re right," Marc said. "I’ll take care of the Shadow. You sneak around the rocks behind them and get Zhetty out of there as quickly as possible.”

“Okay.”

“Go now, and wait for me to jump down before you get in there.”

Marc held his sword close to his chest. Neo crawled around the rock wall, and waited behind Zhetty.

“Here goes…” Marc took a deep breath. Then he jumped over the wall.

“Hey! Shadow!” he yelled.

“Oh… Who’s this?" the shadow asked. "One of your friends, Thoughtian?”

“Marc…” Zhetty groaned.

“He didn’t do anything. Let him go," Marc said.

“You’re a Powerian… Good… I like the deep blue blood of that kind. It’s thick and clean and pure. And your souls are especially sweet.”

“Shut up you sicko. If that’s the way you want it, you’re gonna get it.”

Marc swung his sword around in his hand. The Shadow pulled a sword out from under its cloak as well. The handle was purple and the blade was black.

“Your sweet blood will coat this blade.”

“I am so sick of your voice.”

Marc lifted his sword above his head and jumped towards the Shadow. He swung it down and it met the Shadow’s sword with a clang. The Shadow hissed at him, so he punched it with his hand. The Shadow stumbled backwards, then it lifted up its hand.

“You have a strong body my friend. Is your heart strong as well?” it snarled.

The hand glowed black, the ground shook, and a dark stream poured out of the hand into Marc.

“Stay,” it laughed.

“… No. My heart is stronger than yours.”

Marc walked forward, swung his sword around and brought it down onto the Shadow’s hand. The Shadow screamed and jerked its arm in. The hand flew off as it did.

“I am no ordinary Powerian.”

“And I am no ordinary Shadow! You have made a powerful enemy my friend!”

The Shadow disappeared into a rip in the ground.

“Phew… Zhetty? Neo?” Marc asked.

“We’re here.” Neo said.

“I’m… so cold… Marc…” Zhetty groaned.

“You’ll be okay now. Let’s get out of here.”

“Marc?”

“What?”

“Thank you…”

...

ROFL good times. hahaha
